The new March Madness Excel bracket and pool manager file are available for download! Click on the "Brackets" tab above, or go to http://whistleblows.com/brackets/
New this year: In addition to supporting the expanded NCAA field of 68 teams (it actually supports 128), the Excel bracket file includes the option of showing the date, time, and television channel for the round of 64 games. The dates are available for other rounds, but the TV broadcasts will not be announced until the tournament is underway.
The pool manager file is missing some of the features of past years. Those features will be back, but not until the 2012 edition. Sorry, just ran out of time.
I hope you all enjoy the brackets! Please share your thoughts, and any bugs you find or enhancements you'd like to see, on the Brackets page.
Update: If you want all the functionality from last year's bracket and don't mind not being able to pick the First Four games, you can download last year's pool manager file and bracket (already with 2011 teams). They must be used with each other (i.e., you cannot use this year's bracket with last year's pool manager file).
Hey,
ReplyDeleteIt looks like we have a problem with "richmond". Users getting an error when selecting "richmond"
Please help.
Hey
ReplyDeleteI'm trying to import brackets into the pool manager file but I keep getting a Run time error 9 subscript out of range. Any ideas on how to fix?
Any fixes for the "Richmond" problem? Now that they've won a game, clicking "Richmond" on the master bracket gives an error and the brackets that correctly picked that game aren't getting the points from it. Any fix would be greatly appreciated.
ReplyDeleteThanks!
How do I check to see what version I am running? I get the richmond error also. BTW this is a really cool program.
ReplyDeleteThe version is listed in the Pool Manager file, on the Instructions tab (top line)
ReplyDeleteI have 8-0-1. Do I need to start over somehow? Thank you?
ReplyDeleteIt's up to you. If you can live with the Richmond error and Tiebreaker problem, you can stay with the older version. It's better to have the most recent version, but I realize it's a pain to redo everything. Also, check out the comments at http://whenthewhistleblows.wordpress.com/brackets/
ReplyDeletewhere I offer fix instructions for those two problems.
Thanks. I am not real experienced at this but followed your instructions about AC25 cell formula and it fixed the Richmond error. Thanks alot for the cool program, responding to my questions, and the fun of playing with this.
ReplyDeleteIs anyone else having trouble where it shows Duke getting whacked n the elite 8 when you look at individual brackets? If so, does that affect the scoring or just the red lines on the individual bracket page. Thanks.
ReplyDeleteWhen do you think the 2012 version will be available? I am looking to download it early this year to mess with it a bit. Also, have you made a firm commitment on what you will do since there are 68 teams now?
ReplyDeleteI'll post the new brackets within an hour of the field being announced on Sunday.
ReplyDeleteIf you want to mess with the brackets, just download last year's. I haven't made any changes to the bracket system this year, unfortunately. I've got a long list of improvements I want to make, but haven't made the time to do them.
As for the 68, I'm keeping it how I did it last year. The bracket is actually built to handle 128 teams, so it will do 68 just fine, or expand as the tournament changes to make more money give more student-athletes a postseason opportunity.
I am keeping track of my husbands workplace brackets and I am looking forward to using your spreadsheet. Thank you for the hard work and for letting us use it! It's seems pretty straight forward and user friendly. I guess I will be checking back later to get the updated file!
ReplyDeleteThanks again!
Yes, please check back later tonight. I'll have it up as soon as I can.
